June 2024 HFF Meeting

I do hope we have all managed to squeeze in a bit of fishing these daze. The next meeting of the Hoosier Fly Fishers will again be at the Bloomington American Legion Post # 18. Dinner will be at 6:00 and the program will be a 7:00. We will start with a round table for you all to brag about all the fish you have been catching.

The program this month will be a presentation by Marty James. Marty will  be discussing all things about fly fishing for carp. He will be discussing the necessary rods and flies for both stream and lake fishing.  Marty is also a certified fly casting instructor. He may have suggestions on how to get the flies to the place they can do their job. There may well be a word or two about Muskies on a fly rod. Bring questions, this is going to be fun.

There will also be a tying demo. Fly to be tied is to be determined. I am open to suggestions as always. For now I am considering flies for small streams.

Again, the HFF will be at the Legion with Dinner at 6:00 and the Program at 7:00.

See you all there,

Tim

April 2024 HFF Meeting

Kernal Kevin
Kernal Kevin working his magic.

The annual HFF auction is set for this coming meeting, April 16. This will be a good opportunity to invest the massive tax refund you got yesterday! Once again we will have the fun filled evening of the annual HFF auction. And, again, we will be privileged to have Kernal Kevin and his dulcet voice as the auctioneer. So round up all those nifty outdoor activity items you were sure you really needed and send them to a new home. It may also be a good idea to plan a few new fly patterns to investigate as there will be some real feather bargains to be had…one never has enough feathers. Feel free to share this event with anyone you know who may be interested.

May 11th will be the annual HFF picnic. Once again the Clarks generously offered their home on Lake Lemon for the picnic. We will get started about 11:00 AM and plan to eat about 12:00 noon.  The club will provide burgers and hot dogs, buns, chips and soft drinks. Adult beverages are up to you. Please bring a side dish or desert. The fishing there is always fun and some of us even catch a few fish.

More to follow soon…

Stay dry,

Tim
