February Update

Little reminder that the February meeting of the HFF will be this coming Tuesday the 20th at the Colorado Steakhouse. As mentioned, Chef Steve will be showing us how to fillet and prepare a large fish. This may come in handy if any of us ever catch a large fish…you know, like a 1# Bluegill. Time allowing, there will be a tying demo.

For the future please keep in mind that the Hff Auction will be at the April 17th meeting and the picnic will be sometime in May. So start saving up some really good stuff for the auction. We have to give something for Kernal Kevin to show off his skills at parting us from our money with his rapid-fire patter.

We are going to try something a little different this year for the ‘fly tying class.” We will meet at the Colorado Steakhouse at 6:00 on February 27th and again on March 6th. These sessions will be demonstration/hands on events. Several tiers will demo a pattern and then give up their seat for instruction to anyone interested in that pattern. We are very open to pattern suggestions, however, our thinking at this point is flies that work well in local waters. For example, I am planning on showing some simple but effective variations on a Clouser Minnow. More on this at the February 20th meeting.

See you there,

Tim

UPDATE:  Chef Steve did a wonderful job with the fish and it was delicious! Check out Bobby’s Colorado Steak House  at 1635 North College Avenue Bloomington, IN  ,  for a wonderful dining experience.

February Meeting 2018

Good Evening,

The next meeting of the HFF will be February 20th at the Colorado Steakhouse. The program this week will be Chef Steve showing us how to fillet and prepare a large fish. (This is presented just in case any of us ever catch a large fish.) After Steve shows us his skill with knife and fire, we will eat the fish! I for one am looking forward to this.

There will also be  a fly tying demo. I am not sure which pattern will be demoed…stay tuned for more details.

Also, stay tuned for more info about the meetings for the rest of the year and an update on our fly tying classes for this year. We are planning a new format and venue this time. More on that soon.
